What is Tdap?
Tdap vaccine stands for: Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis. This is three immunizations in one dose. Diphtheria and pertussis spreads from person to person. While tetanus enters the body through cuts or wounds.
If unvaccinated:
Tetanus causes painful stiffening of the muscles that can lead to serious health issues, including being unable to open your mouth, difficulty swallowing, breathing, and can lead to death.
Diphtheria can lead to difficulty breathing, heart failure, paralysis, or death.
Pertussis also known as “whooping cough”, can cause uncontrollable, violent coughing that makes it hard to breathe, eat, or drink. This can be extremely serious especially in babies and younger children.
Being vaccinated can protect newborns to the elderly population. This vaccine can protect you for 10 years!!
