PHIL-P310 Metaphysics is a fun, engaging, discussion-oriented class in philosophy meeting the second-level writing requirement that will be offered in the fall semester 2021. The class will focus primarily on the metaphysics of people and personal identity. We will cover such topics as (1) the nature of people (are we as people wholly physical or do we have some nonphysical or extraphysical component), (2) identity of people over time (what does it mean for a person to survive or die in any given situation? is it the continued existence of the body, the mind, or something else that determines personal survival?), and (3) the question of free will (do we as people possess genuine free will, or are we in some sense determined to do what we do?). There will be one or two other topics covered as well. So if you think you would enjoy discussing and debating topics such as these, sign up for PHIL-P310 Metaphysics in the Fall 2021. The class # for this course is 41101. Dr. J.R. Shrader is the instructor for this course. For more information about this course, please contact Dr. Shrader at wshrader@iusb.edu
