Effective for Work Study pay periods that begin 6/13/2021 departments will again be responsible for 25% of student earnings. The last bi-weekly pay period in which the current 100% match rate will continue will end on 6/12/2021. This pay period will have a check date of 6/25/2021.
Departments need to ensure they have funds in their budget to cover the 25%. Remember, the Gross (LOE) Limit of Earnings referenced on the Work-Study Authorization form IS NOT the departmental share; it is the maximum the student can earn for the session(s). Hiring departments are responsible for keeping track of the amount earned and for 25% of the Gross LOE. Federal law requires that a Work-Study student be paid the same wage as any other person in the position, but not less than minimum wage. Minimum wage at IU South Bend is $10.15 per hour.
