Drink in the words of local poets.
The Poetry Den is an (online) space for new and experienced poets to share beauty with words. Whether you’re a seasoned poet, newly expressing yourself, or just looking to sit back and listen, The Poetry Den is your place to be.
To share your words in this safe and welcoming space, send a message to sign up for the open microphone. Poets may perform in-person at the CRHC (masked at all times, including during your performance) or at home via Zoom.
After the open microphone poets take their beat, stay to hear this month’s featured poet:
Sue Barnard is a writer, poet, and spoken word artist. She was born and raised in South Bend and moved to San Diego in 2012. Her life has taken many paths with include co-owner and chief baker at the Peaberry Café and Bakery in South Bend. Years later, Sue and her husband Bill established and ran the “Perfect Pour Café”, which was an extension of a local church and was intended as a meet and greet venue, where people gathered for fellowship and to break bread together. Creativity was encouraged and original art work hung on the walls, hand made art pieces were displayed, open mics and live performances took place.
The Poetry Den is free and public participation is encouraged. Because some poets may use mature language, attendance by those 18 and over is encouraged.
