The following questions are the discussion questions for this event:
(Question 1): Changing or amending the Constitution can be quite difficult, is this a strength of the design of our Constitution or a flaw that should be changed?
(Question 2): Currently a single U.S. President can serve a maximum of two terms in office, should these term limits be abolished, should they be expanded? How about term limits for members of Congress, is this an idea worth exploring?
(Question 3): Currently, immigrants are excluded from being the President of the United States under the Constitution. Should we change the Constitution to allow immigrants to be eligible to be President?
(Question 4): There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the partisanship of the Supreme Court recently. Are there any constitutional changes that you can think of or would make to how our Supreme Court functions? Currently some proposed ideas include: (1) raising the number of justices, (2) enacting term limits, (3) ensuring equal judicial appointments by each President, etc.
(Question 5): With an uptick in government spending, concern regarding the fiscal wellbeing of our nation is being raised. Should a balance the budget amendment be passed ensuring that the amount of government revenues (from taxes, tariffs, etc.) equals as close as possible to government expenditures?
(Question 6): The Equal Rights Amendment “declares that woman shall have equal rights in the United States and every place subject to its jurisdiction.” While it was almost ratified into the Constitution in the 1970’s it never quite was—should this amendment be adopted?
If there is a topic of particular interest to participants, then we may decide to explore that topic during the discussion!
Finally, we ask that all participants be respectful and courteous towards others! Thank you!
