The Indiana University South Bend Women’s and Gender Studies Program welcomes special guest Dr. Michelle Téllez presenting, “Beyond the Wall: Fronteriza Imaginaries in the Everyday,” for the 2021 Gloria Kaufman Memorial Lecture.
Dr. Michelle Téllez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mexican American Studies at the University of Arizona.
Thinking beyond geopolitical demarcations at the US/Mexico border, Dr. Téllez asks how can we imagine the borderlands as a space of feminist resistance, conviviality, agency, and creative community building. Rooted in experiential knowledge and many years of community rooted research in the region, Dr. Téllez will share the often-overlooked and misunderstood stories of mujeres fronterizas (border women).
Registration for this important and informative lecture is required via Zoom at go.iu.edu/Kaufman2021.
This special presentation is made possible by the IU South Bend Women’s and Gender Studies Program and co-sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; the School of Social Work; the Vera Z.
