“We have full access to VoiceThread, it’s free, and we can put it in Canvas?” “As faculty, we have IU Google accounts?” “When and how did we decide to move to this new technology?” All of these are real questions I have heard from IU faculty or staff, and possibly comments you have made yourself. It can be difficult to be tuned in to all the various information sources and keep up to date on what is happening. That is one reason why the CITL writes and publishes a blog each week, to help faculty and staff be knowledgeable about all aspects of teaching and learning. Subscribe to the blog today to have these knowledge bites delivered straight to your inbox.
When it comes to getting updates on specific learning technologies and changes that are happening at Indiana University, UITS has you covered with their Next.IU site (next.iu.edu). The purpose of the Next.IU site is to keep faculty informed of technologies we are “trying on for size” as well as the tools and applications that we’ve integrated into our larger Learning Technologies ecosystem. You can go there to see recently adopted technologies, reports on past pilots including faculty reviews, view the technologies currently in pilot, and as your interest dictates participate in a pilot.
“As students evolve, so do the systems and tools that shape the way we engage, educate, and inspire them. Next.IU goes beyond the latest trends to discover which technologies best serve IU’s needs for education—in the traditional classroom and flipped, hybrid, and fully-online learning environments.” -UITS Next.IU.
Looking for ideas on how to integrate these technologies into your class to enhance learning?
