The College offers semester and academic year exchange programs with its partner universities. College majors pay their regular IU tuition; this is one of the most affordable ways to study abroad! The cost can be similar to a semester spent in Bloomington.  Students may apply for an ASPIRE Exchange in addition to applying for a program through the IU Education Abroad Office and then choose later.  You can currently apply to spend either the Fall 2025 semester abroad, or the full 2025-2026 academic year abroad.

ScIU is seeking undergraduate students for our social media and science communication internship for the spring semester! In this internship, students will learn how science communicators are using different social media platforms to disseminate scientific information, learn how to distill and disperse information from primary research articles to audiences of all levels across multiple digital formats, and assist with the facilitation of ScIU’s social media platforms on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with daily posts and interactions with our audience. Students can earn course credit through MSCH-X472  (Media School), ASCS-X373 (College of Arts and Sciences), or as an independent study under their lab PIs. NSF- Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program  in Nanoscience and Nanoengineering

Applications are being accepted for the summer 2025 NSF REU program in Nanoscience and Nanoengineering at Vanderbilt University. The application deadline is February 15^th.  The Vanderbilt Institute for Nanoscale Science and Engineering (VINSE) focuses on interdisciplinary nanoscale research at the interface of chemistry, physics, biology, and engineering. More than 50 faculty participants from the School of Engineering, College of Arts and Science, and the School of Medicine inspire students by creating an atmosphere of excitement and creativity. Each REU participant will work directly with VINSE faculty members and their research groups and be part of the larger VINSE community.

The VINSE REU has a record of success, 97% of former VINSE NSF REU students either attend graduate school or are employed in STEM-related fields. Many have received several awards and honors including:

• 24 NSF Graduate Research Fellowships (another 14 received honorable mentions)
• 7 Goldwater Fellowships
• 3 SMART Fellowships
• 3 NDSEG Fellowships
• 1 Rhodes Scholar
• 1 Gates Cambridge Fellowship

The Marine Physical Laboratory (MPL) at world-renowned Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego is currently seeking inquisitive, motivated undergraduates with exceptional aptitude for quantitative science and technology to apply for the 2025 MPL Summer Internship Program.

The MPL Summer Internship program is a paid, ten-week research program where students complete their own individual research project under the mentorship of some of the most notable scientists in the world. In addition to their research, students will attend weekly seminars, participate in hands-on activities, and more. Interns receive a $18.00/hour salary and a $6,000 taxable stipend to offset costs of housing, meals, transportation, etc. issued upon arrival.

• Applicants must be available to start in June 2025 and work 40 hours/week for entire    duration of the internship (10 consecutive weeks).

We are excited to announce the NSF-supported Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at Mississippi State University, focused on Food, Energy, and Water Security. This ten-week summer program offers students the chance to work with a faculty mentor on renewable energy research, covering biofuel production, biochar applications, and wastewater purification.

Participants will receive a $6,000 stipend, housing and meals, and travel support for this 10-week summer program beginning May 27, 2025. We welcome applications from undergraduates who have completed at least their freshman year and are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
