We had lots of fun Friday, March 15th removing invasive honeysuckle at Oliver’s Woods, a Central Indiana Land Trust property located just east of the Keystone Fashion Mall along the White River!

CEES staff Robert Lugg, Elizabeth Johnson, and Austin Taylor, and GK-12 fellow Jess Adamic spent this past weekend working together with Indiana State Museum Going Green Festival attendees to understand how water, sediment, and pollution moves through our watersheds!
Service Learning participants will help prepare a vacant lot on Indy’s near eastside for the creation of a thriving fruit and vegetable garden.
“What is a watershed?” K-12 students discovered the answer to this question and more while attending CEES’ booth at last Thursday’s M.S.D. of Pike Township Math and Science Community Fair.
We anticipate that live stakes will arrive on March 18. The contractor is going to use the live stakes to replace some plantings that did not survive last year’s drought, and to increase bank stability in some stream reaches.
We are sorry to report that the Ohio River Basin Alliance Conference has been postponed. Federal agencies are under strict travel restrictions as a result of the Sequester and are unable to attend the conference in March. The Alliance is tentatively rescheduling the conference for August 2013. We will post updates as we receive them.
