For many of the interns they’ve, like most of us, spent the last two years indoors and finding themselves innovating on how to continue on with their daily life as normally as possible. With a new year comes new goals, aspirations, and hopes. While we will likely have to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic for a bit longer that didn’t stop us from looking forward to 2022 with newfound energies and discussing what we are excited for this year. Below are the individual goals and hopes of the Spring 2022 Arts and Humanities Council interns:
Abby
“Second semester always brings along new and exciting experiences and opportunities. I unfailingly look forward to all the art and performances that are presented in my department (Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance). It is truly inspirational to see artists working on their passion and striving for their dreams. Annually, we have the New Moves capstone performance project, which is choreographed by the senior class. This professional production allows each choreographer to express and imprint their personal artistry on the dance community and grants outstanding performance exposure to younger majors. ”

“Last fall was my first semester in graduate school, which means it was going to be hectic enough already—for some reason, though, I also decided to take 16 hours. It was pretty rough, and I felt like with most of my assignments my mindset was just to “get the grade.” Fortunately, I was able to succeed in this sense, but I also feel like my work would have been better if I wasn’t spread so thin. Thankfully, I’m only taking three classes this semester, so I’m excited to really invest in all of them, as well as the projects I’m working on outside of class (some of which are for the A&H Council!), and really do work that not only gets the grade but is also something to be proud of. Oh and I also hope I’m able to explore Bloomington more!”
Kunal
“As a music student, I’m looking forward to my senior recital and being able to showcase my work over the last 4 years!”
Madison
“I’m most looking forward to pushing myself this next semester. I keep seeking out opportunities for things I’ve always wanted to explore, but have been a little nervous to do on my own – like rock climbing. IU is such an awesome place because there’s so many awesome classes – so now I get to try all these things for class credit. It feels like a year of personal self growth and exploration and I’m super psyched to keep trying new things, meeting new people, and learning.”
Brooke
“I’m looking forward to graduating and soaking in my last semester at IU! I can’t wait to make as many memories and adventures as I can before my college experience comes to an end!”

“This semester I am most looking forward to all the different guests we will be hosting for the Korea Remix festival. Stay tuned for many more blog posts from me about the festival, but I just finished reading Cathy Park Hong’s book, Minor Feelings, and I cannot stop telling people about it. The emotions that the author is able to express through her writing are just so raw and her style is so lyrical that I can only explain the experience of reading it as just that, an experience. I am thrilled we will be able to host Hong on campus on February 3rd and am looking forward to being able to speak to her more about her work. Hope to see you all there!”
Shreya
“I’m most excited for all of the exciting Korea Remixed events this semester! We have an amazing lineup of scholars, artists, and authors. I am just really looking forward to everything we have planned.”

“As a senior recently accepted into the Maurer School of Law there is a sense of relief I have about this semester because I know it is not my last in Bloomington. I am actually really looking forward to my work on the council! The work we’ve been doing for Korea Remix and Granfalloon is shaping into what looks like some of the most exciting events. I think being trapped and masked up for the last two years has made me want to go out and have fun a bit more and all the events we’re putting on are a great way to do that. In addition to the work the council is doing I am also very excited to finally bring an end to my 4-year journey in undergrad and open the next chapter of my life at law school in the Fall.”
So, What is one thing you are looking forward to this semester?
