If anyone has been following the situation involving Newfields in Indianapolis, it has been very interesting to see how everything goes down. As a person who is invested in the arts from the artist and administration perspectives, I have read many articles and posts made about the museum. Just to give a small summary, in a recent job description for a new director position, they stated they were seeking a director who would work not only to attract a more diverse audience but to maintain its “traditional, core, white art audience.”
This has had a catastrophic impact on the institution and the Indianapolis community. It has also brought the discussion of diversity and inclusion in the museum structure to light.
