Motivation is difficult given the current circumstances, especially since I’m a senior this year at Indiana University. I’m sure a lot of you can relate. However, I figured this is just a mini pause in society and eventually we will go back to a normal life. But in the meantime, we must continue to take time for ourselves in order for relaxation and positive energy to prosper. During a time like this, when we are all virtual and in-person contact is minimal, I’ve noticed that it’s hard to give yourself enough credit and applaud yourself. We should constantly remind ourselves to never stop doing our best just because someone isn’t giving us credit.
Here are three simple tricks that you can practice in order to become motivated:
- Create a positive environment in which you feel awake and productive.
- Celebrate the small wins you experience in the workforce or school.
- Be around and surround yourself with people who are as ambitious as you.
It’s okay to not be highly productive given the circumstances. No matter where we are mentally, we are all in this together. Nobody’s life is normal right now so don’t feel alone.
