A recent Indiana University alum from 2017, Jeron Braxton, graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Art through the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture, and Design. With the rise in new technological advancements, Jeron is in the position to become an iconic 3D animator of Generation Z. Essentially, Jeron is a self-taught 3D Blender animator who mixes political messages, dance beats, and Playstation aesthetics into one hyperactive short film. He designs in the polygon video game aesthetic, creating something of its own category that pushes the craft forward. Furthermore, he also is a musician who creates music along with his animations.
Example of work by Jeron Braxton
Jeron has been creating art professionally since 2016 before he graduated from Indiana University and moved to New York City. He’s already notably recognized for his work on Glucose (2017), Octane (2018), and Daytime Noir (2019). More recently, he produced a show for FX+ called Daytime Noir, which can be streamed on Hulu. Jeron stated in a recent interview, “It’s a parody of this terrible American dating show called The Maury Show. It intended to exploit black people, so my animation is about the industry exploiting black and poor people. It’s five episodes long and wild comedy, very narrative-driven.” It’s important to note that thus far, he has been nominated for 7 different film awards and won the Sundance Film Festival award. Additionally, his work has been featured on Adult Swim as well as film festivals such as Pictoplasma, SXSW, and has been recognized on many social media platforms.
Although I don’t know him on a personal level, we have several mutual friends. I follow him on social media and stay connected and up to date with his latest trends and animations. If you’re interested in an up and coming artist, I recommend checking out his work.
