Artwork by Klarens Malluta
No creative person should ever be confined in their workspace. It’s important to emphasize: we all need to keep in touch with the latest stylistic trends and check out professional work that’s constantly circulating the web. It’s not about directly copying each other’s ideas; instead, it’s about understanding the common points of reference allowing for new ideas to formulate and influence the visual communication around us.
Since I was a teenager, I have always been intrigued by photography and have gained inspiration from circulating images on Pinterest or Tumblr. However, over the last couple of years, I have been exposed to additional websites, allowing me to come across a particular platform called Behance. This website is notably beneficial for me since I’m an art major. More specifically, Behance influences my inventive, creative process and inspires me when I begin new design projects because of the diversified collections. Also, I’ve discovered some of my favorite artists on this website, such as Klarens Malluta, a digital artist who is inspired by color palettes, 80s style, and shapes. He utilizes art to work through his feelings on topics of existence, time, the human mind, anxiety, and life meaning. (See the image above for an example of his work). I believe Klaren’s work is symbolically captivating and mesmerizing for any viewer.
Behance is part of the Adobe software family and is considered one of the leading online platforms to showcase and help people discover creative work. The main goal of this platform is to empower the creative world and allow for new ideas to evolve. Another cool feature of this website is that Behance is free for all creative professionals across all disciplines in the arts. Anyone can join the community and publish their work, as well as follow other artists and projects they’re inspired by. I believe this is an important aspect of the platform because it allows everyone and anyone to participate.
If you’re not totally familiar with what Behance is, you must check it out and explore the platform. It’s full of projects ranging a variety of mediums, including but not limited to photography, graphic design, illustration, architecture, motion, product design, fashion, advertising, game design…you get the gist. The imagery embedded into the website is, in my opinion, the best of the best, allowing the viewer to dive deep into the content that’s offered. Whereas Pinterest is meant for quick scrolling, Behance allows for more of an in-depth approach when analyzing projects.
All in all, it’s important to share useful resources, especially since art is such a powerful means of collaborative visual communication. During your spare time, be sure to check out this enticing platform.
