Ian K. Webb, Ph.D.
Ian has been working in the field of mass spectrometry since his undergraduate research in gas-phase ion energetics in the lab of J.C. Poutsma (College of William and Mary in Virginia) in 2004. He did his graduate work with Scott McLuckey (Purdue University, West Lafayette), developing gas-phase ion/ion chemistries and fragmentation methods for mass spectrometric analysis of bio-macromolecules, receiving his Ph.D. in 2012. He then joined the group of Richard Smith (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory) for a postdoc and staff scientist position developing instrumentation for ion mobility spectrometry. Ian joined the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at IU Indianapolis in August 2018, and is an Associate Professor in the department.
In our lab, we are combining protein modification chemistry/derivatization reactions and ion mobility/mass spectrometry to synergistically lead to vertical advances in both fields and biomacromolecule analysis in general.
