In specific cancers and inflammatory diseases a series of cell surface receptors, folate receptors are unregulated and over expressed. As such, these receptors can be targeted to treat these inflammatory diseases and specific cancers, primarily leukemia. In our project, we analyzed a monoclonal antibody (m909), and the structure of mutants that can specifically target FR- beta. We did this by designing and making mutations of the m909 antibody in an effort to identify variants with a high binding affinity to FR-Beta. This work will hopefully provide an aid to developing competent monoclonal antibodies for the treatment of inflammatory diseases and cancers.
