I headed to Linton-Stockton to help with some Fab Lab things.
First we switched out an extruder assembly on a Flashforge Adventurer 5M 3D printer. It was not too hard, just little screws to work with and not lose.
Then we worked on ideas for 2 classroom projects and laser cut a 2x2x2 box as a prototype for one of the projects (marble run). I showed them makercase to design the box with finger tabs. Does anyone have a webpage/list of great makerspace website resources?
Heading back to Bloomington I go past Bloomfield Schools and decided to stop in. We worked with their new 54″ full color vinyl printer cutter. We had to figure out a workflow to get the kiss cut (“CutContour”) line around without Illustrator or Corel. We found that Versaworks (the software that talks to the machine) actually has a way to do this. Though one of the round images we tried it gave us a square cut line. A different one it gave us round, like an offset. They are working on purchasing Adobe Illustrator, then we will refine that workflow. Then they showed off their XTool F1 Ultra with a conveyor belt to batch process items. Getting the software to batch process was a little quirky, but might have been because the items were white and reflective.
it was a productive day.
