I got connected with a home school group that has an outdoor focus. We met at Winslow Woods park so they could take a short hike and pick up some natural elements to make/augment a fairy door to go along with a literature activity (reading the picture book Fairy Door ; they thought they might add a creative writing aspect when they got home.).
I brought along cardboard and craft materials (they did also), as well as a cedar fence picket and a jigsaw. A few wanted doors cut out of the cedar, so they drew/cut out a template from cardboard. I also got the drill out because one wanted holes in their piece of bark to string pipe cleaner through.
