End of a Written Journey, Continuing of a Living Journey
It has now been over a month since the beginning of this recorded journey of trying to incorporate 3 of the “Power 9” into my daily life. The 3 I focused on were move naturally, down shift, and the 80% rule. Although some of these were easier to implement than others, the fact that I even attempted to step out of my routine (and often did) is a huge accomplishment in itself for me. This class exercise has left me with new feelings and an open mind to change.

The “Power 9” are not only supposed to help you live longer, but also have a positive effect on your feelings. Throughout this process my feelings have ranged from discouraged to enlightened to proud. I’ve also had time to reevaluate how I would describe previously experienced feelings:
Good: a sense of accomplishment and progression without any negativity. I chose these words because they revolve around a positive transformation you go through when you do something.

Solid: having a grasp and understanding of something. I chose this because knowledge gives you a sense of stability in a way and I feel that is similar to feeling solid.
Happy: being free of negativity and able to be genuinely be grateful about something. I chose this because feeling happy is more than just being able to smile, it’s a feeling inside you that is fully positive.

Healthy: when my mind, body, and soul are all performing at their highest potential. I chose this because not only is it a classic definition of healthy, it’s also a holistic look at the feeling; feeling healthy is a multidimensional experience
During this experience I received support and, thankfully, a lot of positive reactions. My mother was able to join me in a few methods in which I incorporated two of the “Power 9”, which made it so much easier for me to make the changes. She thought the addition of these lifestyle changes would also be beneficial to me and encouraged me to carry them out. I also received support from the fellow participants of this class as we discussed ways to help each other be successful in integrating our 3 choices in to our lives. Of course the reactions from my classmates were always uplifting and encouraging because we’re the ones who know what these lifestyle changes will do for us.

I believe that the reactions I’m getting to adding 3 of the “Power 9” into my life are directly related to how I’m feeling. With the reliable support systems and positive encouragement, I have been feeling all the feelings listed above. I feel good that I’m participating in something beneficial for my life, I feel solid that I know what to do and how to do it, I feel happy that I am able to make changes, and I feel healthy when I make the effort to incorporate my “Power9”. I believe my feelings are what’s inspiring me the most. They are all so positive and make me proud that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to. Yes, I may struggle along the way, but that’s part of this lifelong journey.
