No, I am not taking a break from my internship! During down time when I am not planning and prepping lesson materials for classes at the Archives, I am processing a collection from the Office of Ethics and Anti-Harassment, now the Student Conduct office under the Dean of Students. This collection has been interesting to dive into, even more than I thought administrative records would be. The records cover a really interesting time in IU history, especially in regards to safety, conduct, and discipline. The collection focuses heavily on issues related to women’s campus life and safety. During the last several decades of the 20th century, violence against women both on campus and in Bloomington became a significant issue that needed to be addressed by administration, and it was up to this office to manage the programs put in place. Needless to say, the records are a fascinating look back in IU time.
