Drs. Cathy Johnson, Molly Riddle, and Jacque Singleton have been invited to be 2023 Clinical Fellows with the Association for Teacher Educators. The Association for Teacher Educators is dedicated to the improvement of teacher education. This fundamental mission takes place through leadership in: (1) the development of quality programs to prepare teachers, (2) the analysis of issues and practices related to the preparation and career-long professional development of teachers, and (3) the provision of opportunities for the professional and personal growth of association members.
They were selected based on their deep commitment to clinical practice in teacher education. The Clinical Fellows is a select group of teacher educators from across the nation. The symposium is by invitation only and will serve to network scholars across the nation who share a passion for “turning teacher education upside down” and putting clinical practice at the center of all teacher education endeavors. This year’s Clinical Practice Fellows Symposium theme, Delving into Dilemmas: Inquiring Into Equity, Access, and Inclusion in Clinically Based Teacher Education, will be action-oriented and discussion-based.
Post symposium, the three faculty members will present at the annual ATE conference held in Jacksonville, Florida March 26-29, 2023. Dr. Johnson will be presenting Beyond Google and the Scripted Curriculum: Exploring Images with Teacher Candidates. Dr. Riddle will be presenting The Struggle is Real: EPPs Supporting Teachers’ Productive Math Struggles; Dr. Singleton, Dr. Johnson, and former IUS Professor Dr. Debi Mink on Clinical Educators: More than Superheroes.
