My name is Fábio Mendes, I am a PhD student in the Evolution, Ecology and Behavior science program here in the Biology Department, at Indiana University. My fascination for the fact of evolution led me to study evolutionary theory -- this scientifically solid, exciting and rich bundle of ideas that attempt to explain how the variety of life forms on Earth came to be. In my research, I develop and use computer programs in order to analyze and visualize molecular data from multiple organisms (including "electronic" populations of organisms I simulate on my computer), and to test hypotheses about the workings of evolution. I also firmly believe scientists have a responsibility to intelligibly share their results with the public, and ScIU has provided me with an opportunity to do my part. I hope you enjoy!
