The Research & Education Networks Information Sharing & Analysis Center (REN-ISAC) and Fortinet have entered a partnership focused on threat information sharing to promote and enhance higher education and research cybersecurity efforts in the United States.
This partnership, with support from Carahsoft Technology Corporation, was established under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will focus on:
Cybersecurity threat information analysis, research, and sharing.
Best practices and counsel on opportunities to enhance cybersecurity postures of possible benefit to REN-ISAC members.
Collaboration to enhance the cybersecurity talent pipeline.
“The REN-ISAC is pleased to partner with Fortinet, a leader in cybersecurity solutions, to help aid and promote cybersecurity protection and response among research and higher education (R&E) organizations. With the addition of Fortinet as part of our community of trusted members, we are excited to work together to further our goals of improving security across higher education,” noted Kim Milford, executive director of the REN-ISAC.
Fortinet’s Bob Turner, field chief information security officer for education, agreed, stating, “College and university campuses are centers of innovation in many areas, and they continue to be attractive targets for cybercriminals. Their networks house advanced research data, as well as a plethora of student, alumni, faculty, and staff personal, financial, and medical information. We look forward to working with the REN-ISAC member community and being a part of combatting threats with actionable threat intelligence and best practices sharing.”
