On March 28, 2022, RTCOMM, a leading Russian internet service provider, began blocking their users from Twitter. Due to a (mis)configuration, RTCOMM’s networks also attempted to isolate Twitter from the entire global Internet network. Fortunately, Twitter was successful in stopping the hijack. This is just one of many examples of how the cracks in the Internet’s routing foundations can lead to incidents like route hijacking, route leaks, IP address spoofing, and DDoS attacks.
Learn how to strengthen your network foundations at REN-ISAC’s “Introduction to MANRS: Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security.” Steve Wallace (Internet2) will explain how to create a more resilient Internet with the MANRS global initiative. In addition, he share how to take advantage of free and easy to implement routing protection through Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI), which helped Twitter prevent the RTCOMM hijacking of their network.
This webinar is public, so please join us Wednesday, June 8, at noon for what is sure to be an informative and interesting discussion.
