I’m writing this post on my second-to-last day of the BFC/A internship and I am truly appreciative of the opportunity to work with such a rich collection of materials. In the past, I have not been able to become so intimately aware of a collection; I have not seen the process through from beginning to end before.
Unfortunately the collection still has some needs I will not be able to meet. I have reached out to Martin about applying metadata for photographs, but he is a very busy man, and this might be work for a different person at a different time. There is still information that needs to be added to the finding aid; Ronda will have to update it when a formal accession agreement is made. Boxes and books will need to be labeled. It is difficult to step away knowing that archival work is an iterative, ongoing process, but I am confident in what I was able to do and look forward to seeing the final product published.
