What three traits define you?
Caring, passionate, and outgoing
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
Own a coffee shop or boutique on the beach
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Continue to learn and explore ways to best serve students from diverse backgrounds so they can be successful. Also, to be a mixologist. 🙂
What challenging thing has happened (to) for you, and what did you gain from it?
I have moved around quite a bit due to my husband’s career and starting over is never easy, but even with the challenges moving brings I have had the opportunity to live and work in some wonderful places. Those places have taught me so much about who I am as a person as well as helped mold who I am as an educator. Most importantly I have gained valuable friendships and built relationships that will last a lifetime.
How do you define success?
Ability to help and support others in their endeavors
What do you do in your spare time?
Spending time with family and friends, attending sporting events and relaxing on the beach
What is a favorite book, movie, and/or tv show that had an impact on you?
Favorite movie: Mona Lisa Smile. As an educator it is important we help students see the possibilities that learning can offer to them and as women it is okay to explore areas outside of what others might see as unconventional social norms. Think big, learn lots, and explore all kinds of opportunities. Be who you want to be!!!
Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?
Travel to Italy and Greece
What is your favorite thing about working at OVPUE?
The people I have gotten to meet and the impact they are making on students’ lives not just on campus but throughout the state as well as the world.
Rebecca Itow
