Pathways Fest: Majors, Minors, and Careers
On August 21, a little over 1000 students attended the Pathways Fest, which hosted all of IUB’s academic programs in one place, along with experiential learning opportunities, academic support resources, and career coaching. The goal was to give all new undergrads a chance to learn about their options for academics at IUB and connect their studies to their career goals. Advising & Major Exploration Services (AMES) and Career Exploration & Student Employment (CESE) jointly organized the event along with the IU Peer Coaches.
Participating units included: the Student Academic Center, the Academic Support Center, Accessible Educational Services, IU Libraries, the Center of Excellence for Women & Technology, Education Abroad, Student Employment, and Undergraduate Research. Some fun activities included button- and bracelet-making with an inspiring “word for the semester,” giant Jenga on the patio, a prize wheel with generous donations from the programs who participated in the fest, and a postcard-signing activity to receive a free AMES T-Shirt.
Thanks to Wells Library for their support in providing the space, chairs, and tables for the event. The library has been a long-time partner with AMES, CESE, and the IU Peer Coaches.

Fall Part-Time Jobs Fair
The annual fall Part-Time Jobs Fair was held on Friday, August 22, filling IMU’s Alumni Hall and Solarium with 2565 students between noon and 4 p.m. The fair is hosted annually by Career Exploration & Student Employment (CESE) and is open to all IU students—undergraduate and graduate—who are looking for part-time jobs during the school year.
Fifty-five on- and off-campus employers attended to advertise part-time jobs to current IU students. About 80% of students who attended said they were hoping to find a job through the fair, and approximately half the attendees were first year students. CESE hosts a similar event in the late spring to help students find summer job opportunities.

Law Day
Law Day is the most important event of the year on the IU Bloomington campus for prelaw students. IU students had the opportunity to speak with representatives of an incredible 93 law schools from across the country at the fair held in Alumni Hall in the Indiana Memorial Union. Meeting face-to-face with admissions officials helps students establish a personal connection with the schools and learn how to become a competitive applicant.
The event also featured a lively panel discussion in the Georgian Room with law school admissions officials from three different law schools (Indiana University Maurer School of Law, DePaul University College of Law, and University of California at Davis School of Law). The panelists shared their perspectives on what they like—and don’t like—to see in an application. Students also asked their own questions. Timely topics included the changes in caps on federal student loans and how AI is impacting the way that law schools review personal statements. The panel helps students gain insight into the application process and keep up on the latest trends impacting law school admission.
