On Friday, April 23rd, staff members from Bloomington Assessment and Research (BAR) and the Center for Learning Analytics and Student Success (CLASS) celebrated Earth Day by volunteering at the Sycamore Land Trust. In just three hours time, they pulled 14 bags of weeds! This event gave staff an opportunity to get out of the house, spend some time in nature, and gather together in a safe and socially distant way.
Mike Sauer in BAR coordinated this event for the units and worked with HR’s Anita Harden in advance to ensure it met the requirements for IU’s paid leave day.
A reminder to all OVPUE staff, IU offers a paid leave day (up to eight hours) for employees to attend an IU sponsored volunteer event. Contact Anita (adharden@iu.edu) to learn more about how to schedule a volunteer event like this for your unit.
