Join the OVPUE Book Club hosted by IUHS Reads! As part of IU High School’s vision to “help learners hone strategies for critical thinking and purposeful interaction in a networked world,” IUHS Reads! encourages the entire community to participate in conversations about how the novels we read inspire our imaginations, fuel our thinking, and help us view current societal issues in a new light.
Our first Book Club selection is The Last Days of Night by Graham Moore. This historical fiction novel puts you in the middle of the current wars between Edison and Westinghouse as they develop the technologies that will determine whether the United States will run on AC or DC. Filled with mystery, intrigue, and action too astounding to be fiction, The Last days of Night is a riveting tale that will keep you turning pages until the very end. You can find the book in your local library, on Audible and in other audiobook venues, Amazon, and wherever books are available.

Begin the journey by logging into our IUHS Reads! Book Club Canvas page here. Post your initial thoughts, excitements, and expectations in our opening discussion forum to let us know you are participating and to meet others reading with us! Then check back as you read to ask questions, share your insights, and hear what other people think. (And don’t worry. We’ll section off the discussion forums so that there are no spoilers if you don’t want them!)
Know someone else who you think would like to join this discussion? Invite them!
As we begin reading, we will set some times to meet in person for those who wish to sip some coffee or tea as we discuss. This season’s book club will culminate with a meeting to discuss the entire book in May 2020. Our next book will be revealed in June. We look forward to sharing this wonderful book with you!
Happy Reading!
