The Advance College Project (ACP) at Indiana University has appointed a new director to continue building the dual-enrollment partnership at the university.
Hoosier native Troy Byler was the senior lecturer and outreach coordinator for the Germanic Studies Department at IU. Byler’s experience working as department liaison for ACP made him a natural fit to assume the director position, already familiar with ACP course development, articulation, teacher training, and workshops.
During his time at the university, Byler has created and directed outreach projects such as the annual German Theater Project for High Schools and the German Instructor Summer Program for the professional development of high school teachers.
“Troy brings new strengths and capacity to an already fantastic team, and I feel very confident that as of January, ACP will be in an even stronger position than it is today,” said senior assistant vice provost, Mike Bean.
The ACP is a dual-enrollment partnership between Indiana University and select high schools throughout Indiana and surrounding states. IU courses taught through the ACP program provide both high school and college credits (known as concurrent or dual enrollment) and allow students to fulfill high school graduation requirements as well as start building their college careers.
