What an amazing city! With so many attractions to offer its continuous cycles of tourists and locals, Barcelona has it all. There is a place for everyone and something everyone can do. The flip-side of the coin is a never-ending list of things to do and see. A list that creates a life-time’s worth of memories. A place that challenges you to try something new every day. A city that can enhance every color of emotion you feel. Barcelona will always have a special place in my heart. I have challenged myself to integrate into the city life through activities such as volunteering, visiting college campuses, attending live local events, and more. I wanted to find the true Barcelona, not the water-down version for tourists. I was seeking absolute cultural and historical immersion during my time abroad. Everyday I searched for opportunities to learn about the city in such a way that it would help me see through the lens of the locals. This challenge lead me to a college park called Parc del laberint between the mountain-range of Collserola and the University of Barcelona. As an outdoors man, it was here where I felt completely connected with nature and the city. I was at balance here. For anyone who chooses to pursue their study abroad in Barcelona, I highly recommend visiting this park. Not only is it a hidden gem, but its proximity to the university of Barcelona can nearly guarantee you access to other college students. This was important to me because a goal of mine was to create a couple relationships with local students to help reconnect me in the future with the city.
