To be quite honest, I do not believe there was a single day that went by in Ghana when we did not learn or hear about Kwame Nkrumah. We did of course hear a little bit about him in our lectures but not nearly to the extent as with our trip in Ghana. It goes to show the extent of his importance and legacy till today.
Kwame Nkrumah can be accredited for;
- pushing for universities throughout the country
- aiding in pan-Africanism throughout Africa
- being the leading governmental official who designed the government of Ghana during its independence
- being a heroic activist
“Always Forward, Never Backward”
Though he lived for 63 years, he managed to not only lead Ghana to independence but assisted with Guinea’s independence as well. He also brought several countries together through his pan-African work, became the leading representative who brought an African country to the table and proved all the western standards wrong. Kwame Nkrumah was a force to be reckoned with. Thanks to him, his ideals are still being put to use to lead Ghana and other countries along the western coast of Africa to a better Africa in general.
