One weekend in April, my friends and I took a weekend trip to Varenna, which is a quaint town on Lake Como. The air was crisp with beautiful mountains and wide open areas. The towns were cute with mom and pop restaurants. In order to get from town to town you must take a water ferry across the lake. One adventure that my friends and I got ourselves into was driving a boat on the lake. In Europe the rules are much more relaxed and there were many advertisements to drive a boat with a big promotion in bold letters saying “no license required”. Naturally we were interested in this and took it up. We brought my speaker and took the boat out on the water. This moment felt surreal and I had not felt that free and open in a long time. Seeing the towns and the landscape from the water was unbelievable and then also choosing our route of choice throughout the massive lake was incredible. We did this the old-fashioned way and used a paper map because we did not have service on the water, in the picture below you can see me holding the paper map as us three girls take on Lake Como!
