I have always wanted to travel outside of the US, and I was finally able to. Studying abroad has always been a dream of mine, and this program was so much more than I expected. In the Bavaria and Lombardia program, Americans, Italians, and Germans all came together to work in groups. We got to experience the culture of Augsburg, Germany and Bergamo, Italy, typically places that Americans don’t go.
These two cities had some similarities and differences, but I liked that we did not stay in touristy places. I would actually consider living in Augsburg some day, even though before this program I never even thought of visiting it. Having the Germans and Italians by our side to show us the ropes was a huge plus. It will be amazing to now refer to my friends who live across the world from me!
My favorite part of this trip was definitely the group tour to Munich, Germany, and the Neuschwanstein Castle, because they were each absolutely beautiful. I would love to come back to these places and cities next time I am in Europe, especially to visit the friends I made. This was the most incredible thing I have ever done, and I hope to continue to build cultural experiences like this one in the future.
