Stage Crew
Work at IU Opera and Ballet Theater in the beautiful Musical Arts Center. Stage crew who work opera & ballet theater productions receive playbill credit. Hours vary based on production and personal schedule. $12.00/hr starting. Two main sets of crews, though you can work on both:
- Day Crew: Assist in the day-to-day operations of the theatre. Work onstage assembling scenery, setting up for events, and keeping the space ready for the next event
- Show Crew: Work backstage during shows. Assist in scenic changes, handing props off off to actors, run special effects, and keeping backstage safe for actors and technicians.

Electrics Crew
Have we sparked your interest? The Electrics Crew at the Musical Arts Center is responsible for all the lighting needs for live performances and events onstage. We hang/focus the stage lights, operate the console for on-stage events, run spotlights for operas and ballets, and operate special effects such fog and haze as needed. Prior experience working in a backstage/technical theater role (or equivalent experience) is strongly preferred, but crew members will receive on-the-job training. We ask that all applicants be able to commit to at least TWO 3hr shifts per week. There will also be evening hours for shows and concerts throughout the academic year. Starting pay is $12.00/hr.

Wardrobe Crew
Wardrobe Crew members work closely with beautifully designed and crafted costumes, assisting performers getting in and out of costumes and wigs before, during, and after performances and rehearsals throughout the IU Opera and Ballet season. Crew members keep track of costumes and accessories, and maintain costumes by cleaning, laundering, and conducting minor repairs. Crew are scheduled nightly during technical rehearsals and performances (approximately 5:00p-11p). There are also limited shifts during the day 8a-5p. The ability to sew is preferred but not required. Starting Pay is $12/hr

Paint/Props Crew
Learn new, behind-the- scenes-skills, as a member of the team preparing and painting scenery and props for the opera and ballet productions. Must be reliable, energetic, attentive, and not afraid to get a little messy. The paint shop is open Monday – Friday, 8a.m.- 12p.m. and 1-5p.m. Typical shifts are 2-4 hrs. in length. Total commitment of 8-24 hours per week. Starting pay is $12.00/ hr.

Front of House
House staff members (ushers) must embody a spirit of customer service and care for patrons of the Musical Arts Center. Responsibilities may include ticket scanning, seating, program distribution, welcoming/guiding patrons, assisting ADA/wheelchair user patrons, event set up/tear down, and other as-assigned duties. Most house staff positions start at $12.00/hr.

Supernumeraries
Supernumeraries are non-singing, acting roles in IU Opera & Ballet Theater productions. Supers are costumed and staged in the on-stage action. Amount of rehearsal time and interaction onstage varies by production. These are volunteer positions; supers will receive playbill credit and one pair of complimentary tickets.
