Five O’Neill undergraduate students have been recognized by the university with the Kate Hevner Mueller Outstanding Senior Award. The award honors students who have offered leadership on campus both inside and outside of the classroom and who have improved the IU community by their presence.
O’Neill’s 2022 Mueller Award honorees
- Policy analysis major Madeline Dederichs has held many leadership roles within IU Student Government, including vice president, and is the president of the Student Recreational Sports Association.
- Nonprofit management and leadership major Hannah Marie Fry received the Four Pillars Award from the Civic Leaders Center, served as part of the executive team of BuildOn Global, and served as a student fellow with the IU Alumni Association.
- Human resource management major Kaitlyn O’Conor held leadership roles on the executive council for Alpha Delta Pi and for IU Dance Marathon. She also served as the vice president of risk management and director of Honor Board as part of the Panhellenic Association Executive Council.
- Healthcare management and policy major Nicholas Stevens is a Founders Scholar and undergraduate teaching assistant at O’Neill, as well as the president of the IU Student Athletic Board and a member of Beta Sigma Psi.
- Law and public policy major Sha’Tearaney Suttle served as the president of the Pre-Law Division of the Black Law Students Association, president and historian of the Gammu Nu chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., secretary of the Chi Alpha Epsilon Honors Society, and a resident assistant.
These awards honor the legacy of Dr. Kate Hevner Mueller, who was a national pioneer for women professionals and who served IU as a dean of women, senior counselor for women, and professor of education.
