Sanya Carley, O’Neill Professor at the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, has been honored with the Senior Fellow Award from the United States Association for Energy Economics.
The Senior Fellow Award is given to individuals who have exemplified distinguished service in the field of energy economics and/or the USAEE. Carley was honored for her work on fuel economy standards and its influence during the administration of President Barak Obama as well as for her research on energy equity and justice.
“It’s an incredible honor to receive this award and be recognized alongside such a distinguished group of past fellows, each of whom has made a significant contribution to research and/or implementation of energy solutions,” Carley said.
Carley has filled a number of roles in the organization, including treasurer, vice president of academic affairs, presidential advisor, and general council member.
Carley was recognized during the 39th annual USAEE/IAEE North American Conference held in Houston Oct. 23-26.
In addition to her recognition at the conference, Carley was recently selected to serve on the National Academies Roundtable on Macroeconomics and Climate-Related Risks and Opportunities. The event aims to improve the understanding of how the physical and transition effects of climate change relate to and affect macroeconomic performance and the implications for fiscal, monetary, and financial stability policies. The roundtable will be convened Oct. 31.
