Ethel Louise Brown

Ethel Louise Nelson Brown (1915-1986) was an Indiana resident and artist, born in Marion (Grant County) who lived in various parts of the state throughout her life (including Brown County and Delaware County).

There is little public information on Brown beyond her burial information, but we wanted to highlight the second photo that corresponds with this biography post. You can notice on the signature that has discrepancies in letter thickness–meaning that Ethel actually changed the signature on the Wilcox Lake painting (likely to reflect her new surname, as the painting was completed just two years after she was married).
