Organization
Dove House is committed to empowering women to become substance-free, self-sufficient, and healthy by providing safe housing and quality recovery programming. Dove House’s model offers a comprehensive continuum of services including housing, counseling, case management, recovery programming, life skills and job readiness classes, and family reunification services.
Dove House addresses the social determinants of health to improve outcomes for women with SUD. The program also addresses the social determinants of health for women as they transition from our program to the community through their work with a Peer Recovery Coach to ensure they have a plan for affordable housing, safe living arrangements, a strong support system, employment/education, transportation, and access to healthcare and recovery supports.
Job/Project Overview
Dove House will increase access to our comprehensive continuum of services including case management, peer recovery support, intensive therapy, residential treatment services, job placement services, and after-care services that facilitate a smooth transition back to a community for vulnerable women with substance use disorders.
Dove House is committed to advancing equity and we believe that a woman has the right to access free, quality recovery housing, mental health services, and recovery programming regardless of her demographics. Dove House recognizes that women of color experience systemic barriers to accessing substance use disorder treatment and mental health services such as stigma, inadequate access to healthcare coverage, and lack of financial resources. Dove House increases access to services by removing the financial barriers to services.
This practicum will specifically address increasing access to healthcare needs of the women accessing services through Dove House. Using the Strategic Plan as a guide, creation and implementing partnerships that will increase access to physical, mental, and sexual health will be the core of improving services for women who often do not have equal access or opportunity for car:
