“I have been working in the nonprofit sector since graduating from the University of Dhaka, gaining experience in a variety of areas, including research, advocacy, and program management.
I was excited to learn about the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and subsequently applied for the graduate program (MA). When I received the admission letter, I was thrilled to discover that I had also been selected for the Zakat Foundation Institute (ZFI) Fellowship program. This provided me with the opportunity to work with an energetic and inspiring team of scholars as a graduate assistant.
My graduate assistantship with MPI was an extraordinary learning experience. I had the privilege of collaborating with scholars and researchers, and MPI served as a valuable source of guidance, research opportunities, resources, and scholarly discussions that greatly enhanced my academic journey throughout the program. Moreover, MPI provided me with the chance to contribute to several impactful research projects and reports, which I believe will continue to shape my scholarly pursuits.
Additionally, MPI extends both financial and academic support. With their generous backing, I was able to attend the ARNOVA conference in 2022, where I had the opportunity to connect with philanthropy scholars and practitioners. This experience was incredibly enriching, allowing me to learn from leading experts in the field.
Working with the MPI team has significantly deepened my understanding of global generosity trends and the motivations and practices of Muslim philanthropy. It has made a profound impact on my academic journey and broadened my perspective on the field of philanthropy.”
