Well, our professor is somehow having a hard time remembering the billion of us students in his class so he’s having us make some nameplates. Ha! I think we’re going to create them with some string and hand them from our necks so that he can easily call on up when we’re clearly doing something stupid on the laser cutter. 😉
So my first step was to get into Adobe Illustrator and set up a project for the laser cutter. I’ve had extensive knowledge in most of the Adobe products so this one wasn’t terribly difficult. I just had to figure out the way Illustrator does things differently than Photoshop (my preferred environment). One is primarily vector based (Illustrator) and the other is raster (Photoshop) and it handles layers a bit differently. either way it was fairly easy to set up a flat 4×2 rectable with black font lettering and a .003 inch red frame border.
Next up, time to watch the 3D modeler video…
