History Hangout: Women’s History Month Edition – a Kids’ Take & Make Program took over my life this week. The game board templates and kit labels created by MCPL Marketing turned out super great (see below)! Lots of assembly (see below), especially the cardboard backing element of this kit (not pictured due to the late night hour). The program was marketed this week via the newsletter, website and social media (see below for website listing). An interesting element of preparing for this program was communicating with the MCPL staff that handle website event listings as well as online reservations of kits for patrons. These are new elements for MCPL in this virtual era.
A completely different and really fun event this week was leading some of the rhymes and songs in the Tiny to Two story time! We only had one child and their parent but it was great practice for me to try out some new rhymes I’d been pumped up about. I led “Two Little Blackbirds,” “Popcorn Kernels,” and “Hickory Dickory Dock” – each with movement and scarf manipulation included. Observing Preschool story time this week was also a joy!
