This past week at MCPL flew by!
I spent most of the week writing and editing a book review for the website. It can be found here once it releases in March. I met with the Access and Content Services Manager to learn more about the Library of Things collection at MCPL. We had a great conversation about why Library of Things collections exist and how to develop such a collection based on your community’s needs. I will most likely be working on re-packaging Story Time Kits, which are somewhat a part of the Things collection in Children’s. This will give me excellent experience in a practical cataloging and accessibility project from start to finish.
Today my Mindfulness Story Time released on the MCPL YouTube! It can be found here and is great for ages 3-6 years old, although all ages may enjoy. I shadowed in a Tiny to Two story time last week and I cannot wait to begin assisting in those story times because there’s so much for caregivers to take away from the program, alongside their little one.
Finally over the weekend and into this week, I am moving on to my next program – The History Hangout: Women’s History Month edition. This will be a live on Zoom program for tweens, digging into some history while also making/crafting together. I’ll really dig into the preparations for this during this week.I’m a bit nervous for this program since it will be my first live program on my own but it might feel more natural than singing and reading to my empty living room, like I did in the Mindfulness Story Time. Other things coming up this week include: assembling take & make kits, testing out a new take & make, confirming a partnership opportunity and learning Tiny to Two rhymes for upcoming weeks.
