The process of coming to a close at my internship has been difficult. It’s always hard for me to balance the celebration of ending something with the stress of completing all related tasks that come with a finish. To lay on top of all of this, we have the pressure of the hours I have left to commit to my internship. With less than 5 hours to work, I’ve made a list of priorities:
- final blog post – check!
- final presentation
- May 5th Tiny to Two
- board game kit leftovers
- Martha’s coll. dev. project
- staff training on creative movement/dance
- training on Culture Grams – review
- book review
During week 14, the poetry flyers were finished by marketing and went up on the Children’s Help Desk. I also really spent time working on new rhymes for my upcoming Tiny to Two. Found a lot of good options rom Jbrary (Dancing with Bears, Wake up Feet, Two Little Eyes), as always. I used some from the dance education resources I have. AND I changed some well know story time rhymes into versions that will work for our Moving & Shaking theme. For example:
Finally, I had a strong connection this week to my S672 Seminar: Trends in Children’s Literature where I am doing a personal inquiry project on the role of dance and creative movement in early literacy. I hope to present a training to MCPL staff on this topic. Some of MCPL’s literature made it into my inquiry cycle last week — a literacy-building activities calendar. I annotated said calendar to add in elements of creative movement!
