2023 Auditions
Dear Auditionee,
Thank you for your interest in the Indiana University Marching Hundred Drumline! Below you will find more information on upcoming auditions. For the first video, you will provide your own exercises based on specific skill sets. Please provide one exercise per skill set and do not combine skill sets (you should have nine different exercises). Don’t feel the need to learn anything new, please play what you’re most comfortable with.
Please provide exercises for the following: (*indicates warm ups cymbals should provide)
-Eights*
-Eights with Dynamics
-Accent Tap
-Double Beat*
-Triple Beat*
-Triplet Timing (Natural Sticking Throughout)*
-16th Timing (Natural Sticking Throughout)*
-Rolls -Flam Accents, Flam Taps
You will receive feedback and status on your standing after all videos have been received.
Should you receive a callback, you will be required to learn a short packet of warm ups and some traditional IU Cadences. Please record them and send in another video and I will give further feedback ahead of band camp, along with announcing everyone’s callback status.
The final audition will be in person during the first few days of band camp. All warm ups from the packet and music from video 2 will be fair game for this audition. Your ability to sight read, play together with other players and your overall preparedness on the music is paramount to making your first choice instrument. In the event you get cut, you will have the opportunity to audition for other instruments should there be spots available.
