At the end of the semester, you may receive request from students to reevaluate their final grades. If you do not already have a process outlined in your syllabus, this example from Ted M. Coopman, Ph.D., a lecturer in the Department of Communication Studies at San José State University, San José, California, provides a great example: https://sjsu.instructure.com/courses/1139558/pages/grade-review-policy Specifically, he shares a process that requires the student to reflect on their request as they develop an evidenced based rationale for the grade change.
The end of the academic year also provides an opportunity to review what went well with your course and take time to update your syllabus and course materials, while pertinent changes are fresh in your mind. The book Designing a motivational syllabus : creating a learning path for student engagement: https://iucat.iu.edu/catalog/16939594 contains research about effective syllabi and how tone, visual tools, and length can motivate and engage students.
Aside: This document https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RMVwzjc1o0Mi8Blw_-JUTcXv02b2WRH86vw7mi16W3U/edit# has a growing list of policies developed by faculty to address how students should interact with AI Generative Tools in their courses that can be adapted to a syllabus.
