2022 Horizon Report Teaching and Learning with Technology

Each year EDUCAUSE produces a Horizon Report which discusses the trends and key technologies and practices shaping the future of teaching and learning, plus several scenarios and implications on the horizon. This year’s report starts with a look at how COVID has impacted institutions, and the shift from “emergency” to “long-term” planning for new technologies that enable more adaptive decision-making and more flexible teaching and learning experiences. Other topics include, but are not limited to (Re)Defining Instructional Modalities, Cost and Value of College Degrees, how Political Ideologies Impact Pedagogy, and some of the ways AI has been integrated into higher education.

The report is based on the perspectives and expertise of a global panel of leaders from across the higher education landscape, and you can use it to learn, plan, and act on all that is influencing higher education teaching and learning—now and in the future.

The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) in association with the UITS Learning Technologies division, would like to hear from us. Specifically, this is an opportunity for CITL to have a school-level conversations with faculty to learn about their needs, preferences, challenges, and opportunities related to learning technologies. If you cannot attend, please respond to this email with any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to have addressed. Shabnam Kavousian will serve as the faculty facilitator.

SAVE THE DATE for the ICICLE Conference on Learning Engineering  26-28 July 2022, MIT Campus, Boston, MA USAWe are thrilled to announce the 2022 ICICLE Conference on Learning Engineering! Join a diverse group of professionals to deepen your understanding of learning engineering. The conference will launch an exciting new book on learning engineering, the Learning Engineering Toolkit.  The book will frame the themes for interactive sessions on the learning engineering process, core concepts, and breadth of applicability.
(FYI: Learning engineering combines scientific knowledge and theory on learning. Learning engineering applies a rigorous combination of theory, data, and analysis to develop and improve educational systems and methodologies to produce enduring and high-quality learning. The conference will be onsite at MIT Campus, Boston, MA, US from 26th – 28th July 2022.
