I hope the spring break was refreshing and just the thing you needed to get out of the hectic or monotone school schedule.
Well for me, I utilized the break to catch up on my pending homework, readings and speed up the job application while surviving sporadic anxiety and panic attacks. It sank into me that the semester was almost wrapping up. We are halfway through!
Anyway, not to be overdramatic, I will share what I do to get out of rut, energize myself and be productive when I think I CAN’T!
The first one is for the days when you feel you want to sleep and do nothing; even though the deadlines are looming on your head, I would recommend starting with a shower! That’s simple. Try ending your cozy warm shower with cold water. It can jolt your muscles and brain out of the slump. Not for long, but just 30 seconds are good enough. I am not daring enough to be there for more than that. But it certainly helps.
Second, clean your room! Hahaha, that’s the most mature thing I have done and learned so far. Something about a clean space, a clean bed, sets the mood right to be productive. If you can’t do it right away, dump everything in the closet so that the immediate space in the visual peripheral is not messy.
So, third, Eat clean! I know! Another absurd mature adult thing! Who has the time to cook or see what nutrients our food has? But it certainly does affect your overall mind and physical health. If you are low on essential nutrients, your mood will be low. (Insert Campus health checkup plugin)
Lastly, if you have tried all of these and still feel you are in a slump, try going for a walk, hitting the gym, spending time with close friends, sharing your issues or troubling thoughts, or even starting a group session. After all, we raise up by raising others as well.
In all those steps, remember to be kind to yourself. Understand your emotions and take time to process them. If you feel good emotionally, mentally, you will be more productive throughout.
