A Loving Review is a blog that has come about in 2023 with the intention to showcase my love of movies. My name is Lucas Ferdinand-McDonald, and I have adored the art of filmmaking for a long time. My goal with this blog is to appeal to both hardcore movie fans as well as casual viewers alike by showcasing all types of films in an entertaining way in order to provide my perspective on them. I came up with this blog idea based off of many video essays I have viewed; and I knew that the idea of these “essays” could always come through in the typical essay form (written). This blog will be called “A Loving Review” as I plan to give an overview on my perspective on films in a caring (and loving) way that is able to see both the most minute details as well as the larger picture of a particular film as a whole. Yes, that means even the worst movies I see will be showcased on this site in one form or another. Although the title of this blog suggests that it will be purely for reviews, my plan is to upgrade a “review” into a proper analysis and glance into what any particular film or set of films is.
