So several years ago I broke my left foot. A metatarsal on the outside of the foot broke half way through. I needed to wear a foot brace after surgery and was not supposed to walk on it without crutches and then a cane for several weeks.
Now note for this story that here in the IU Kinesiology department, one of our programs is Athletic Training, along with Exercise Science, Fitness and Wellness, and Athletic Management and Marketing. In other words, Kinesiology students know about the body and know what to do when the body is hurt.
I say the above as a warning.
Because when I walked on my foot without a cane in class my students were quick to say “Ms. Lion, should you be doing that?”
Argh.
I had one hundred physical therapists/doctors that semester. I had to attend to my healing.
It was good.
So let that be a warning to you all!! You teach kinesiology majors and they WILL make sure you are taking care of injuries.
It’s great. 🙂
